The Sennheiser MK 4 is a premium large-diaphragm true condenser microphone designed for professional studio recording applications. Featuring a 1-inch externally polarized condenser capsule derived from the acclaimed e 965 vocal microphone, the MK 4 delivers exceptional detail, warm tonal character, and outstanding transient response for vocals, speech, and acoustic instruments.
Designed and manufactured in Germany, the MK 4 combines studio-grade performance with rugged all-metal construction. Its internally shock-mounted capsule minimizes structure-borne noise while maintaining excellent sensitivity, low self-noise, and high maximum SPL, making it ideal for project studios, professional recording facilities, podcast production, voice-over, and broadcast applications.
ARCHITECT’S SPECIFICATION
The studio microphone shall be an externally polarized large-diaphragm condenser microphone utilizing a 1-inch true condenser capsule with cardioid pick-up pattern for professional recording applications.
The microphone shall feature a pressure-gradient transducer, internally shock-mounted capsule, 24-carat gold-plated diaphragm, and rugged full-metal housing designed to minimize structure-borne noise while delivering accurate and natural sound reproduction.
The microphone shall have a frequency response of 20 Hz – 20,000 Hz with a sensitivity of 25 mV/Pa (free field, no load at 1 kHz). Nominal impedance shall be approximately 50 Ω with a minimum terminating impedance of 1 kΩ.
Maximum sound pressure level shall be 140 dB SPL with an equivalent noise level of 10 dB(A) and a dynamic range of 130 dB.
The microphone shall operate from 48 V phantom power (P48) with a current consumption of 3.1 mA and provide a balanced 3-pin XLR connector.
Dimensions shall be Ø 57 × 160 mm (2.24″ × 6.30″). Weight shall be 485 grams (17.11 oz).
