Description
The Sennheiser MK 8 is a premium large-diaphragm true condenser microphone engineered for professional studio recording, project studios, voice-over, podcasting, and broadcast applications. Featuring dual 1-inch externally polarized gold-plated diaphragms and five switchable polar patterns, the MK 8 delivers warm, natural sound reproduction with exceptional detail and flexibility for a wide variety of recording techniques.
Designed and manufactured in Germany, the MK 8 incorporates a shock-mounted capsule, three-position low-cut/roll-off filter, and three-stage input attenuation to optimize performance in virtually any recording environment. Its rugged all-metal housing, low self-noise, and high maximum SPL make it equally suited for delicate vocal recordings and demanding instrument applications.
ARCHITECT’S SPECIFICATION
The studio microphone shall be an externally polarized dual-diaphragm condenser microphone utilizing two 1-inch 24-carat gold-plated diaphragms with five switchable polar patterns comprising omnidirectional, wide cardioid, cardioid, super-cardioid, and figure-of-eight.
The microphone shall feature a pressure-gradient transducer, internally shock-mounted capsule, three-position switchable low-cut/roll-off filter, three-stage sensitivity attenuation (0 dB / –10 dB / –20 dB), and rugged all-metal housing for professional studio recording applications.
The microphone shall have a frequency response of 20 Hz – 20,000 Hz and a sensitivity of 14.1 mV/Pa (free field, no load at 1 kHz). Nominal impedance shall be 50 Ω with a minimum terminating impedance of 1 kΩ.
Maximum sound pressure level shall be 142 dB SPL with attenuation set to 0 dB. Equivalent noise level shall be 10 dB(A), and dynamic range shall be 132 dB.
The microphone shall operate on 48 V phantom power (P48) with a current consumption of 4.1 mA and provide a balanced 3-pin XLR connector.
Dimensions shall be Ø 57 × 160 mm (2.24″ × 6.30″). Weight shall be 485 grams (17.11 oz).
The microphone shall be the Sennheiser MK 8.
