Description
Yamaha YDM-505 – Dynamic Cardioid Microphone
The Yamaha YDM-505 is a dynamic cardioid microphone designed for vocal performance, music production, live performance, and other applications where clear and controlled voice capture is required.
The microphone features a custom-designed cardioid capsule developed specifically for the YDM series. Yamaha describes the capsule as providing a powerful mid- and high-frequency range while maintaining wider directionality.
The YDM-505 incorporates Yamaha’s proprietary insulator designed to reduce handling noise, helping minimize unwanted vibration transmitted through the microphone body during handheld operation.
Its frequency response is 60 Hz–15 kHz, with sensitivity of 2.5 mV/Pa (-52 dB) and nominal output impedance of 600 Ω. The microphone uses a balanced XLR 3-pin connector.
The microphone measures 51 mm in diameter × 184 mm in height and weighs 293 g. Included accessories are a microphone holder, 5/8″ to 3/8″ threaded adapter, and microphone pouch.
